Top 5 YA Romance Books

YA books have always been a great way to hold onto our youth. The girl meets boy, boy likes girl phase never gets old regardless of our age. We all remember that indelible moment when we met our crush for the first time, and most of the time we strive for that nostalgic feeling again. I, for one, can say that when I read YA books, that giddy feeling comes back. Take a look at my top 5 YA romance books. Mind the spoiler alert!

Barrie Watson met Eight Beaufort when she moved to South Carolina to her aunt’s plantation. The house itself is being guarded by an ancient spirit who cursed the land long ago. This left others, including Barrie and Eight, magical gifts, or compulsions. As Barrie tries to break the curse between her and Eight’s families, she becomes drawn to him and he is drawn to her. At first, they assume it’s the curse making them feel that way, but they eventually realize that their love is real and can’t be misunderstood for anything else.

3. CATCHING FIRE, by SUZANNE COLLINS

What I love most about the 2^nd book of the Hunger Games Series is that this is where Katniss Everdeen realizes her true feelings for Peeta. She was so confused with her life before and was just trying to stay alive. All that mattered before was her family and friends, but now she’s coming to terms with how important Peeta is to her. They fight for survival and in the midst of all of the turmoil; they find time to share a sweet kiss. I feel that it was so romantic, especially because he was in love with her when they were just kids, and I think he was just waiting for her to catch up.

2. FALLEN, by LAUREN KATE

When Luce is sent to reform school for young adults after presumably killing a boy she kissed, she is thrown into another world of chaos. While trying to get her bearings, she falls in over her head when she finds herself crushing on a fellow student named Daniel, who clearly doesn’t like her, or so she thinks. Luce finds that Daniel has strange characteristic and she swears she sees invisible wings when he storms away, but that doesn’t stop her from feeling drawn to him, especially after he saves her life. When he informs her of the truth about the school and that their mutual friends are fallen angels, things take a tumultuous turn, leaving Luce frightened for her life. But Daniel vows to send her somewhere safe and come back for her.

1. THE FAULT IN OUR STARS by JOHN GREEN

I couldn’t get enough of this book. Hazel and Augustus have terminal cancer, but that doesn’t stand in their way when they meet at a support group for kids with cancer. Right away, Augustus falls in love with Hazel and sweeps her off her feet in the most amazing way. They travel to Amsterdam and have a sweet time together, experiencing more than most people experience in a lifetime. Regardless of her futile attempts to remain friends, Hazel acquiesces to Augustus’s charm and they fall in love until the very end.
